John Liney - Original Comic Strip Art for Henry dated 1-13-75 (King Features Syndicate, 1975). Carl Anderson created Henry, the little bald boy, in a illustration class he was teaching in 1932. His students loved the character so much that Anderson submitted him to the Saturday Evening Post, who also found him charming and, on March 19, 1932, made him a regular feature. Anderson drew the strip for the next ten years, until arthritis forced him to stop, and the strip was taken over by several assistants, including John Liney, who drew the piece offered here. The strip later transitioned into the daily newspapers, where it remains to this day. This strip, which measures approximately 22.5" x 6.75", with an image area of approximately 20.25" x 5.5", is rendered in pen and ink, with Zip-a-tone highlights, and is in excellent condition. It is signed by the artist in the last panel. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour.
