Signed book: In His Own Write. Later printing. London: Jonathan Cape, 1964. Hardcover, 5.5 x 7, 78 pages. Signed on the first free end page in blue ballpoint by John Lennon, Arthur Askey, Wilfred Bramble, and Helen Shapiro, and on the front pastedown by Brian Epstein and Cynthia Lennon. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating the signatures were obtained at the Foyles Luncheon which was held in honor of the book’s publication. The luncheon took place at The Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London on April 23, 1964. The book itself is particularly notable as the first Beatle solo project in any form. Autographic condition: fine. Book condition: G-/None. Blue illustrated paper-covered boards; heavy rubbing along edges; minor bumps at corners; several pages completely detached and others partially separated (binding glue brittle). During the filming of A Hard Day’s Night John had to leave to Isleworth to attend a literary luncheon being held in his honor at the Dorchester Hotel. A very interesting and unusual combination of signatures highlighting Lennon’s first real solo work. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
