Scarce unsigned handwritten ‘to-do’ list, from his days as ‘house-husband’ at the Dakota Apartments in New York, circa late 1970s, on a lightly-lined light yellow 8.5 x 5.25 sheet. The 11-point list, to his assistant Fred Seaman, reads, in full: “F.S, (1) What was the result of taking Y's spoiled blouse to the cleaners?, (2)Why not?, (3)Chicken, (4)Strawberries, [Peas] (5)Spinach, (6)Carrots (Better Nature has some good organic ones)*, (7)Apples (?) Blueberries:, (8)Try not to leave letters and mags in the office all day/ everyday., (9)Billy Graham (new book on him): [10] Get some nice white flowers and put on Y's desk (in vase) from 'Daddy + Sean', (11)I (one) Yogurt (Plain).” On the reverse, Lennon has written “Fred” twice in capital letters. In fine condition, with a staple and staple hole to edges, a light central vertical fold, and a few scattered wrinkles and creases. Lennon’s role as a ‘house husband’ after the birth of his son Sean was a welcomed retreat from the grind that the music industry was taking on him. Seaman served as Lennon’s assistant from 1979–1980. Provenance: Bonhams, 2012.
