Ballpoint signatures, “John Lennon” and “Yoko Ono,” on an off-white 5 x 6.25 sheet of Air Canada stationery. In fine condition. Consignor notes that the signatures were obtained either on December 23 or 24, 1969. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part (spelling and grammar retained): “In the 1960ies I was responsible for sales in the USA and Canada for SOLO power saws and knapsack sprayers with my office in Queens N.Y. Overnight long distance flights I was allowed to fly first class. One of such flights I booked…I was seated for take off from Toronto [and] a crowd of some 6 people in white dresses and sandle shoes making terrible noise took also seats in first class. After take-off one of them sitting behind me rested his naked feet left and right on my headrest. I was embarrest. So as smoking was allowed in flight I lit a Marlborough and pressed it onto the naked feet of the gentlemen sitting behind me. 5 men stood up shouting at me, 1 lady kept sitting. One of the cockpit crew showed up organizing silence…Some time before reaching London breakfast was served and I took the opportunity shaking hands with all of my ‘new friends’ for apologies which as well accepted. The man sitting behind me stood up fetching Canadian Airline en Route letterheads…and put his and have the lady put her autographes on them.”
