DS, one page, 8.25 x 11.75, cover letter dated December 8, 1980. Lennon appoints a proxy to represent him at the annual meetings to be held on December 17, 1980, of the companies in which he holds interests, “Apple Corps Limited, Maclen (Music) Limited, The Beatles Limited, Apple Publishing Limited, Subafilms Limited, Apple Films Limited,” naming his representatives as Neil Aspinall, Peter Michau, and Nicholas Baker, in that order. The cover letter, addressed to his attorney Barry Nichols, reads, in full: “Please find enclosed form of Proxy signed by John Lennon.” In fine condition. Lennon was shot and killed in New York by Mark David Chapman on the night of December 8, 1980, as he returned home to his apartment at the Dakota. Remarkable in itself as a Lennon-signed document related to the Beatles from 1980, the December 8 date gives it overwhelming historical significance.
