Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album signed and inscribed on the front cover in black felt tip, "To Inspector Symonds & family thanks for everything, love from John Lennon." A strip of Scotch tape has been applied over the signature. In fine condition, with light yellow aging to the edges of the clear tape. The record is included. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks and a letter of provenance from the daughter of the original recipient: "In the mid-60s, when John was living at St. George's Hill, Weybridge, my father was the senior CID officer based in the town. One day my father received a call from John asking if he could advise him on security as so many fans were arriving at the house to try to see him. My father went to see John and they got on well. From then on they kept in regular touch and my father visited the house on numerous occasions. John signed the LP and gave it to my father the last time they met, as my father had been promoted and we were moving to another police division. The tape was put over the message and signature by my mother, who was worried that, as it was written in felt tip pen, it might wear off." Deriving from Lennon's own personal collection, this Sgt. Peppers album exists as just the second example we have ever offered to be signed on the front cover by the late Beatles icon. A magnificent rarity backed by rock solid provenance.
