John Lennon Letter to Tariq Ali. Tariq Ali was a prominent political intellectual who was a major force in the anti-establishment movement in England during the late '60s. A campaigner who led several anti-war marches, he was the first person to interview John Lennon in depth about his political opinions, which were published in Ali's newspaper, The Red Mole. After the interview, Lennon wrote "Power to the People," and said that his political awareness was sparked by Ali's influence. Here is a matted and framed handwritten letter from Lennon to Ali that reads, in part: "After carefully trying to read your paper -- which as far as we can see can never have anything but a limited intellectual appeal to a few students ... our primary concern must inevitably be to revolutionize through art." With COA from PSA/DNA.
