ALS, one page, 8 x 13, no date. Letter to Michael Milbourne, responding to a request to compile an anthology of his poems from In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works for use in theatre workshops. In full: “Dear Michael, Permission granted! (I didn't know you needed it). Good luck.” Includes the original mailing envelope, postmarked at Weybridge, Surrey, April 18, 1968, addressed in Lennon’s own hand, “Michael E. Milbourne (the actor!), Milbourne House, Rottingdean, Sussex.” In very good condition, with small edge separations to intersecting folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature), overall wrinkling, and scattered foxing. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks, a typed letter of provenance from the recipient, and a later transcript of the letter he had initially written to Lennon. A beautifully penned, bold letter from Lennon that is especially interesting in its relation to his solo literary efforts.
