American blues singer-songwriter, John Lee Hooker (1917-2001) was one of the last links to the blues of the deep South. Born to a sharecropper family in Mississippi, he developed his own musical style, so called 'talking blues', a metrically free genre that was full of rhythmic expression.
Though faced with racism from the music industry, Hooker had a successful career. He toured the U.S. and Europe in the 1970s and 1980s and collaborated with well-known musicians like Van Morrison and Canned Heat. Among his hits are Boogie Chillun, Crawling Kingsnake and Boom Boom.
This autographed card by Hooker measures 3" x 5". Written in black ink, the autograph and card are in fine condition.
