<B>John Le Carre: Signed </B></I><B><I>Call for the Dead</B></I></B></I> (New York: Walker and Company, 1962), first edition, 192 pages, green-cloth binding with blue lettering, (5.75” x 8.25”), dust jacket (in protective sleeve). Famous spy novelist John Le Carre was born David John Moore Cornwell in Poole, Dorset, England, in 1931. <I>A Call for the Dead</B></I>, his first novel, introduced the character of George Smiley, who returned in such later works as <I>A Murder of Quality </B></I>and <I>Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy</B></I>. The title page is beautifully signed <I>“John le Carre”. </B></I>The book is in very good condition with some light staining at the bottom of the spine.
