American artist (1835–1910) best known for his paintings and watercolors of nature scenes and his imaginative, richly colored stained glass windows. ALS, one page, 5.75 x 9, personal letterhead, January 5, 1895. Letter to William Conant Church regarding an upcoming meeting. In part: “I regret to say that…I shall be late in attending the meeting for this afternoon…I am now occupied with an appointment.” In very good condition, with several creases, one through a single letter of signature, and scattered toning.
