John Kennedy Original Assassination Telegram
A rare and desirable piece detailing one of the darkest days in modern American history, here is an original 8.5 x 9.5 Associated Press teletype reporting on President Kennedy's assassination, November 22, 1963. A chilling account of the tragedy, the wire reads in part, "A hidden gunman using a high powered rifle shot President Kennedy as he rode through Dallas today. He died at a hospital half an hour later, and the stunned nation had a new President, Lyndon Johnson. Mrs. Kennedy and Governor John Connally were beside the President when he was assassinated. Three shots rang out. Two hit the President, one in the head and one in the neck...As the shots were heard, the President fell face downward, his wife clutched his head, crying "Oh, no."...A man who reportedly worked in the textbook building was arrested later in another part of Dallas. He's identified as Lee Oswald, who spent several years in Russia. Police say he denies any part in the assassination." Light overall toning, otherwise in excellent condition. Est. 1800 - 2000
