In part: “I have recd. your favr. of the 2d. ult. advising that you had recd. my Brother Peter’s Legacy, & that you expected in a few Days to receive the one bequeathed to my Brother Augustus, & would place the whole in the Hands of Messrs. John & George Whitehead Bankers in Basinghall Street. For these Sums you desire me to draw immediately, as you purposed to leave London in the spring. Having just heard that the Bag of the Sloop Peace & Plenty for London, is still at the Coffee House, I take this opportunity of informing you that I shall draw for those monies by the next vessel, making the Bills payable, as you desire, at Messrs. Whiteheads, & I wish in case of your absence, that you would desire those Gentlemen to pay them. At present there is not time for my adding any thing.” Integral second sheet bears an address panel in another hand. Intersecting folds (vertical fold to last name) and mild handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Van Schaack (1747–1832), was a British loyalist who had opposed the Revolution. Departing the United States in 1778 for Britain, where he worked to mend Anglo-American relations, Schaack later returned to America to practice law. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
