Real estate magnate, military officer, and heir to the Astor fortune (1864-1912) who perished in the Titanic disaster. Partly-printed DS, signed “John Jacob Astor,” one page, 12 x 8, May 21, 1895. Engraved certificate for 100 shares in the Wagner Palace Car Company issued to John Jacob Astor. Signed on the reverse by Astor, and signed on the front by William Seward Webb as president. In fine condition. From 1894 to 1896, Astor served as a colonel on the military staff of New York Governor Levi P. Morton.
