<B>John Jacob Astor IV Autograph Letter Signed</B></I> "<I>J J Astor</B></I>", two pages on <I>Estate of William Astor</B></I> letterhead, 5" x 8.25", New York City, April 1, 1893, to Julius Chambers. The letter reads, "<I>Many thanks for the copy of 'Once a Week' you sent me that I read with great interest. If the system of marine profession described will realize sixty five per ct. of the coal efficiency instead of seven as in the best present engine types, it will be greater than anything since Natt's day. With renewed thanks.</B></I>" John Jacob Astor IV (1864 - 1912) is most commonly remembered for having died during the <I>Titanic </B></I>sinking. Although born extremely wealthy, Astor was an accomplished inventor and a savvy businessman in his own right. Even toning, old pencil notations, light soiling.
