An alumnus of the prestigious University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, John Irving (b. 1942), author of <I>The World According to Garp</B></I> (1978) and <I>Hotel New Hampshire</B></I> (1981), published this memoir to coincide with the release of the film adaptation of <I>The Cider House Rules</B></I> (1999), for which he also wrote the screenplay and played a cameo role as the “disapproving stationmaster.” The first blank page at the front of the book is signed<I> “John Irving”</B></I>.
