Unsigned handwritten notes on the reverse of the last page of a typescript, four pages, 8 x 10.5, stamp-dated February 14, 1956. Mimeographed statement of Senator Stuart Symington given on the Senate floor about military preparedness. In part: “Recently there has been much talk about guided missiles. But there has been very little talk about current combat forces in being…We now know the Communists are ahead of us in the long-range ballistic missile field; and therefore we know that if there is one weapon critically needed, in quantity, to maintain the security of the free world, it is our new intercontinental jet bomber the B-52.” Kennedy’s illegible notes are penned in ink on the reverse of the last page and consist of about twenty-five words. Also includes a similar typescript of remarks by Senator Kennedy at a town hall luncheon in Los Angeles, six pages, 8.5 x 14, April 13, 1956, with several lines struck through in ink. In very good condition, with toning and soiling.
