Program from the Easton Democratic City Committee Pre-Election Dinner, held at the Hotel Easton, in Easton, Pennsylvania, on October 30, 1957, 5.75 x 8.5, in which Kennedy gave the main address. Signed on the front cover in blue ballpoint by Kennedy. Scattered light toning and foxing to front and back cover, also to several inside pages, and expected handling wear, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the granddaughter of the signature’s original recipient, an Easton, Pennsylvania, police officer who attended the dinner.

JFK was just a US senator—with presidential aspirations—when he traveled to far eastern Pennsylvania to stump for his fellow Democrats. Looking back, his White House ambitions were clear as he addressed the crowd: ‘We can go forward to a new and better America, never satisfied with things as they are, daring always to try the new, daring nobly and doing greatly. It is in this spirit that we meet here tonight. It is in this spirit that we will sweep the nation in 1958 and 1960.’ And that is precisely what Kennedy did in 1960—albeit narrowly—in his bid to become the 35th President of the United States.
