Vintage 9.5 x 7.75 matte-finish photo of President John F. Kennedy at Cape Canaveral with Mercury astronauts Gus Grissom and Gordon Cooper, and NASA administrator Jim Webb, signed in the lower border in black ink by Grissom and in blue ink by Cooper. Photo also bears a Project Mercury and Kennedy commemorative postal stamps, as well as May 29, 1964, Boston, Massachusetts postal cancellation, and a first day of issue stamp; and a vintage ink signature, “John F. Kennedy, USS Mass.,” on a 2.25 x 1.5 off-white card. In fine condition, with a bit of trivial toning to signed card. A fine grouping and fitting memento of Kennedy’s vision of the space program and Grissom’s contribution to space exploration. Accompanied by three commemorative NASA patches.
