John F. Kennedy: File Copy of Death Certificate
John F. Kennedy: Fascinating File Copy of Original City of Dallas Death Certificate. When gunshots rang out in Dealey Plaza on the 22nd of November, 1963, American life changed forever. The president was dead. More than that, the ideal of a tough, young, almost royal president had passed away, too, along with a national sense of hope. And no matter who was actually responsible for the assassination, it remains one of the most sorrowful days in twentieth century American life.

We offer here a memento from that fateful time. It is a file copy of JFK's death certificate from the O'Neal Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas, where Kennedy's body was taken before it was illegally transferred to Washington, D.C. At the time, Texas law stated that no deceased remains were to leave the state boundaries without first undergoing a full autopsy. Alas, JFK's body was transported to Washington without an autopsy, helping to fuel conspiracy theories of a government cover-up of the assassination to this very day. This copy comes directly from one of the funeral directors who worked at the O'Neal Funeral Home at the time of President Kennedy's assassination. The document itself is enthralling. How many times does one have the chance to look at a death certificate, and under "Usual Occupation" read "President of the U.S.", much less where the cause of death is listed as "Multiple gunshot wounds of the head & neck" caused "by a high powered rifle"? Never, really. This is the only copy of the Dallas death certificate that we have ever encountered. It measures approximately 11" x 8.5". It is in fine condition, with only minimal fold lines present, which only add character to this unique piece of history ideal for anyone interested in the JFK assassination.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
