President Kennedy typed letter signed on White House stationery with transmittal envelope dated January 22, 1962 to Sec't of Labor Arthur J. Goldberg, in very fine condition. Excellent nuclear weapon build-up content: "Two new Atlas intercontinental ballistic missile complexes are operational earlier than expected. This adds additional strength to freedom's deterrent striking power." Though publicly encouraging the Soviets to agree to a nuclear testing ban, President Kennedy continues to enlarge the country's arsenal of ICBM's as a high-stakes bargaining chip. An exceptional letter from Kennedy as president with a great association. Accompanied with the original transmittal envelope.
