Union naval officer (1820–1863) who commanded the USS Albatross in the West Gulf Blockading Squadron during the Civil War, and engaged two Confederate steamers in the Red River. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite photo by E. Jacobs of New Orleans, signed on the reverse in black ink, “Lt. Comd Hart of the U.S.S. Albatross.” In fine condition, with a small pencil notation on reverse.
