Eerie second generation life-size plaster death mask of John Dillinger, created from a mold of an original death mask in the mid–20th century; and an original 1934 pearl-finish 9 x 7 press photo showing the slain Dillinger exhibited before Chicago law enforcement as proof of his demise. In fine condition. The day after Dillinger was killed, over a thousand people lined up at the Chicago city morgue to view the mortal remains of the notorious desperado. While his body was on display, it is believed that four death masks were made of the famous face with varying degrees of cooperation from the authorities. This highly detailed mask, coupled with the associated photograph, perfectly captures the outlaw as he lay on that final day of viewing.
