Manufactured in 1886. The solid rib is tapped for scope mounting (four holes), is fitted with a blade front sight and a three leaf rear sight (two folding, one fixed) and is marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON, 63 PRINCES STREET EDINBURGH". The barrel flats are marked with crown/letter proofs, the serial number and "450 EX". The barrels have an extractor and a band of light engraving at the breech. The water table is marked with the serial number, two "crown/V" proofs and "JD&S". The lock plates are marked "JOHN DICKSON & SON". The nicely figured custom replacement forearm and pistol grip stock feature multi-point checkering, a metal grip cap, a blank initial oval and a solid Old English Pachmayr recoil pad. Established in 1820, John Dickson & Son continues to manufacture quality firearms under the name Dickson & MacNaughton, which brought together many of the most famous names in Scottish gunmaking under one trade company.

Very fine as professionally refurbished. The rifle retains 98% of the blue finish with some minor thinning on the break lever. The upper tang has been repaired and the right lock plate has a couple finished over spots of minor pitting. The wood is very fine with a couple small chips missing near the upper tang and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
