English soldier and statesman whose career spanned the reigns of five monarchs (1650–1722). LS signed “Marlborough,” one page, 9.5 x 14.75, February 1, 1702. Marlborough appoints a qualified applicant “to be Joyner to this Office.” The white paper seal affixed to the upper left remains intact with overall soiling. In very good condition, with scattered small holes and a few tears (repaired with tape to reverse), scattered creases, toning to borders, and the lower right corner clipped off. Accompanied by postcards depicting the Marlborough House, a disbound printed act, and some other related ephemera.
