Opera, operetta, and concert baritone (1891–1960). TLS signed “John Chas.,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.5 x 8.5, personal letterhead, September 14, 1934. Thomas writes Mr. and Mrs. John Shepard. In part: “I regret more than I can tell you that it has been impossible for Dorothy and me to come up for a few days, but it is just a physical impossibility. I stayed away in California for so long that work piled up on me here, so that I am up to my neck…My shoulder is better, but I have had a terrible time with it…the doctors gave me the final word and a rather rigorous diet, which I must follow for the purpose of trying to counteract the acidity in my system.” Scattered creasing, wrinkling, and a collector notation in pencil at the upper left corner, otherwise fine condition.
