Prominent American explorer, military officer, and politician (1813–1890) who mapped the Oregon Trail, played a prominent part in conquering California during the Mexican War, and ran in 1856 as the first Republican presidential candidate. Ink signature, “J. C. Fremont, New York, Sept 1885,” on an off-white 3.25 x 2.25 card. In very good to fine condition, with mild rippling, scattered light toning, and mounting remnants to reverse.
