<B>John C. Frémont: Key Frémont & Dayton Jugate Silk Ribbon from the 1856 Campaign.</B></I> A terrific item for the very first Republican candidate for president. Virtually all jugate ribbons dating before 1864 are rare and this one is no exception. Like most other ribbon varieties of this era, condition is paramount as the vast majority suffers from a variety of condition issues, often severe. This one is essentially nearly mint but for one totally trivial pinhole in the field near the bottom. A couple of very minor creases may be easily steamed out.
