Free-franked mailing panel, 5.75 x 3, addressed in another hand to “Lieut. N. Baden, Baltimore,” indicated as being sent by the “War Department, Ordinance Office,” and franked in the upper right, “J. C. Calhoun.” Panel bears a “Free” stamp as well as Baltimore and Washington City postal cancellations. Matted and framed with a Brady carte-de-visite portrait of Calhoun to an overall size of 3 x 7.5. In fine condition, with a vertical fold passing through the first letter of his last name.
