<B>John Byrne - The Avengers Unpublished Cover Original Art (Marvel, circa 1989).</B></I> Can even the Sub-Mariner withstand the brutal attack of the Lava Men? This lightly sketched and partially inked Sub-Mariner amid bubbles, unpublished John Byrne cover could be a never-completed cover slated for <B>Avengers</B></I> #306 (the only Lava Men issue in the run and one which was eventually illustrated by Paul Ryan and Tom Palmer). A hand-written note from Byrne on the back reads: "Probably this was intended for one of the Avengers issues featuring the Lava Men. But don't hold me to that." The image area measures 10" x 15", and the condition is Very Good.
