<td width="100%">
For a number of years I collected the beautiful calendar prints from the 30-40s.I am selling 5 of them to make some room.They have all been professionally framed with paper on the backs and all hardware for hanging.The colors on these are wonderful.This one is by John Bradshaw Crandell and is called "Birds of A Feather",but in the art books I notice it is called untitled portrait.I happen to have gotten a paper about this print when I purchased it that I have had pasted on the back as to the name and history of it. I do not see a date,could be under the mat but I would guess it is from the 1930s.Mr. Crandell was another wonderful artist and the colors of his prints are also gorgeous.In the 1950s Crandell stopped producing illustrations for magazines and concentrated on portraits.He painted many state governors and other prominent society people.When asked about "the eclipse of the feminine form in calendars," he replied,"Today's dream girls are flesh and blood,not artist's conceptions."He meant that he used live models and not a figment of his imagination. Crandell passed away in 1966.If you would like more info on Mr. Crandell I would be happy to e-mail it and also anymore pictures you may want.This frame measures 21 1/4 x18 1/4" and is beautiful.The mat on this also has advertising for Fairfield,Iowa.When these are all hung on a wall or down a hall as I had them,they look wonderful.I have had many compliments on them through the years.
