This image was created by the British landscape painter John Barrett and originated around the year 1880. Shown is an idyllic landscape view on a rocky hillside with creek in the foreground. The gentle light bathes the bushes near the water in varying shades of green.
The painting is signed lower left ‘J. Barrett’ and is in age-appropriate condition. The canvas has been relined. The lower left area of the stones in the water shows a restoration, otherwise there is some retouching across the image only visible under UV-light. In the center of the sky little color flaking. The stretcher measures 76 x 55 cm. The framed dimensions are 90 x 70 cm. The frame shows slight signs of wear. (cru)
