Free franked address panel, addressed in another hand (perhaps his wife), to “Mrs. Elizabeth Peabody, Atkinson, New Hampshire,” and franked by Adams in the upper right “Free,” and signed in the center, “J. Adams.” Panel also bears a handwritten postmark, “Quincy Ma, July 15th.” Double cloth matted (by its corner tips) and framed with a portrait of Adams, to an overall size of 12.5 x 20. In fine condition, with a central vertical fold and some scattered light toning. Elizabeth Peabody was his wife Abigail’s sister. A splendid example ready for display.
