Signed book from his personal library: The History of England, from the Invasion of Julius Caesar to the Revolution in 1688, Volume IV (of eight). London: A. Millar, 1763. Hardcover, 5 x 8, 476 pages. Signed in ink on the title page, “John Adams.” Housed in a custom slipcase. In poor to fair fragile condition, with covers detached, cracking and wear to leather, several loose pages, tape repairs at front and back hinges, several pages detached, front and rear blanks missing (possible loss of a few pages at end), toning and staining (slightly touching last name), and a few tears, holes, and chips (including signed page). Despite the physical condition of the book, the signed page is relatively unaffected by many of the flaws. Many of the faults can be minimized with proper conservation and restoration.
