<B>John Adams Signed Land Grant Awarded for Service in the Virginia Line</B></I> DS "<I>John Adams</B></I>" as President and co-signed by "<I>Timothy Pickering</B></I>" as Secretary of State, one page on vellum, 12.5" x 14.5", Philadelphia, Jan. 15, 1800, granting one thousand acres of land between "<I>the little Miami and Sciota Rivers, north west of the River Ohio</B></I>". The land is awarded "<I>in consideration of military service performed by Richard Call (a major for three years) to the United States, in the Virginia Line on Continental Establishment, and in pursuance of an Act of Congress of the United States...</B></I>" The document has deep folds which have been flattened, and some toning commensurate with age; however it remains very attractive and boasts a large signature, 3" long.
