American military officer and statesman (1826–1886) who fought in the Mexican-American War and the Civil War. An activist on behalf of veterans’ affairs, Logan was instrumental in the creation of Memorial Day as a public holiday. ALS, on a 3 x 5 postcard, February 9, 1880. Short letter in his difficult to decipher hand to Henry P. Kimble in Illinois. Some scattered light creases and some scattered soiling to bottom, otherwise fine condition.
