Johann Kupetzky (Bösing 1667-1740 Nürnberg)
Johann Kupetzky (Bösing 1667-1740 Nürnberg) Portrait of Baroness Huldenberg, w/ lapdog, oil on canvas, 116 x 95 cm, w/ frame, (Wo).€ 11.000 - 16.000 US $ 10.890 - 15.840 Frau von Huldenberg was the wife of Dr. Daniel Erasmus von Huldenberg (1660 - 1733), emissary of Brunswick to the court of Karl VI., who had married a Brunswick princess. Erasmus von Huldenberg commissioned Lucas von Hildebrandt to build the splendid garden chateau at Hadersdorf-Weidlingau in Vienna. Expert's Report: Prof. Dr. Eduard Safarik, having inspected the painting in the original, dates it to 1717, two years after the portrait of her husband. Acc. to an inscription on the reverse, the latter was sold for the exorbitant sum of 200 guilders, and it is likely that the artist charged the same amount for the baroness's portrait. Two letters from Prof. Safarik confirm the authenticity of the portrait of Baroness Huldenberg (5. August 1969 and 5. August 1972) and his intention to list it in his planned catalogue of works of Kupetzky. In an oral communication on 17. July 2002 he also expressed his readiness to provide the buyer with a written report, should he or she so desire.
