Joe Simon and Jack Kirby Cover Collection (Various, 1940-54).
Joe Simon and Jack Kirby Cover Collection (Various, 1940-54). Cartoonist Roger Brand worked as an assistant to Wally Wood and Gil Kane from 1964-1969 before focusing his efforts on the Underground Comix scene. Brand kept a huge reference file of Golden Age cartoon art; he collected artists he admired and assembled this impressive collection of 48 covers by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, each cover was carefully glued to a sheet of white paper and protected in a plastic binder. Included in this group are the covers to Adventure #79, Blue Bolt #3, Captain America #1 and 6, Foxhole #2, Stuntman #1, and Young Romance #3 - to name just a few! Sadly, flooding destroyed the majority of Roger Brand's reference files, but this collection of covers is one of a few that were recovered by Don Donahue, the head honcho of Apex Novelties, back in 1987. A signed letter from Donahue detailing the history of this collection is included with the lot. The covers offered here appear to have been harvested from comics that averaged from Good to Very Good condition, they have no water damage, and are colorful and attractive. NOTE: this auction is for the FRONT COVERS ONLY, not the entire comic books. 48 items

Important notice: Heritage usually auctions material at the rate of 200-250 lots per hour. On some occasions eBay Live bid software or the Internet may not be able to keep up with the pace of the auction. We recommend placing a realistic absentee bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Occasionally the auctioneer may eliminate or reject an eBay Live bid, and the auctioneer may also reopen a lot after the close of the eBay live bidding (usually because we missed an audience bid), and may reject your bid even if it shows you as the winning bidder. By bidding via eBay Live, you agree that Heritage may award the lot to another bidder at its sole discretion under the circumstances described above or any other reasonable circumstances. Since eBay bids are not shown to us until we open the lot on the floor, we treat those bids just like floor bids. In most cases the floor responds before the eBay bid is presented to us, due to Internet lag time, so for consistency we have made it a policy that floor bids are always considered first over tie eBay live bids. Also please note that all Heritage lots purchased through eBay Live carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions before you bid.
