Joe Montana Signed Chiefs Jersey
"WINNERS WILL BE NOTIFIED AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS BY THE AUCTIONEER ONCE ALL BIDS HAVE BEEN PROCESSED TO DETERMINE THE WINNER FOR EACH LOT."
Official Joe Montana Kansas City Chiefs jersey, signed and inscribed to Derrick Thomas of the Chiefs as Montana was retiring in 1995. When Montana was traded from the San Francisco 49ers in 1993, the Chiefs mailed three jerseys to Montana. One was number ''3,'' his number from Notre Dame, another was number ''19,'' which he wore in little league and also briefly in training camp of the 1979 season with the 49ers, and the third was number ''16,'' which Hall of Fame quarterback Len Dawson offered to let Montana wear since the organization had retired it. Montana declined Dawson's offer and wore ''19'' instead as he played for the Chiefs the last two years of his career. Inscribed to Derrick Thomas in black marker on the ''1'' in the number ''19'' on the back of the jersey: ''Derrick, It's truly been a pleasure being able to watch you first hand and to be your teammate,'' and signed boldly, ''Joe Montana''. The red mesh jersey has official ''NFL Pro Line'' patches stitched to the bottom front, with the number ''19'' embroidered in white and gold on both the front and back, and with ''MONTANA'' lettering also embroidered to back. ''Authentic NFL game jersey'' tag still intact. COA from the Derrick Thomas estate, with original auction tag on jersey matching the certificate. Fine condition.
