Joe Chiodo - Original Cover Art for Code Name: Knockout (DC, 2001). A bizarre blend of sex, espionage, and comedy, DC/Vertigo's Code Name: Knockout made its debut in July, 2001 with a premiere issue that sported this exceptionally sexy cover painting by legendary brushman Joe Chiodo. While the dichotomy of Knockout's good girl/bad girl persona is played out as the classic struggle between diminutive mythical entities (here armed with modern weaponry), most viewers will be more resolutely drawn to her large emerald eyes, pouty reds lips and, ahem, ample charms. The pulsing blue background perfectly complements the amber-yellow hues of the figure, providing an image that is remarkably appealing, and for more than just the obvious reasons. For the collector of modern "good girl" art, you can do no better. Masonite mounted on foam core, the piece measures 17.5" x 27". Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment.
