This color lithograph on wove paper was created in 1975 by the Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893-1983). Depicted is a composition in fresh colors of abstract forms and lines that are characteristic for the artist. The work creates space for your own interpretation and stands out due to its vivid nuances.
The lithograph is signed in the stone on the lower right ‘Miró’ and is the 11th sheet of the artist portfolio ‘Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el Jardín de Miró’, that was published in an edition of 1500 copies by Poligrafa, Barcelona. In the upper part there are two small hinging tapes on reverse, slightly showing through on recto and very few minor handling creases in the sheet. The lithograph by Joan Miró is in good condition and is framed. The total dimension is 80 x 101 cm the sheet measures 50 x 71.5 cm.
Joan Miró (1893-1983)
Miró grew up in Barcelona and began first enters his artistic training at the Art Academy in La Llotja against the will of his parents. After a short illness he was finally allowed to give up an apprenticeship and fully enroll at the Escola d'Art by Francesc Galí. In 1917 he met Francis Picabia know who brought him closer to the Dadaists, but also the Fauves and the Cubists influenced Miró strongly. 1920 Miró moved to Paris, where he lived in the midst of the creative artists of the 20th century. He made the acquaintance of Arp, Magritte, Brancusi and Giacometti, and showed his works together with Dalí, Tanguy, Max Ernst and Meret Oppenheim in different Dadaism and Surrealism exhibitions. 1956 Miró moved to Mallorca, where he created on a large area mainly sculptural works, later ceramics and time and again oil paintings.
