Jingle Jangle Comics Bound Volumes (Eastern Color
Jingle Jangle Comics Bound Volumes (Eastern Color, 1942-49). Much has been said about George Carlson's wacky comics masterpieces "Jingle Jangle Tales" and "The Pieface Prince of Old Pretzleburg" by writers such as Harlan Ellison in All in Color for a Dime, and more recently, in the pages of The Comics Journal, which saw fit to reprint a few of these wonderful stories within the past year. Still, this feature remains something of a "lost classic" as far as today's comics audience is concerned. For those in the know, this batch of three bound volumes of Jingle Jangle Comics (Vol. 1, with issues #1-12, Vol. 2., containing issues #13-24, and Vol. 4, featuring #37-42) are as good as gold. All comics are file copies that were bound and trimmed into hardcover books for office use. Vol. 1 has suffered a bit of aging; the spine cover has come loose, and the interior comics show a slight bit of warping as a result of issues #8-12 being a shorter width than the first seven; still, the pages are quite supple, and most covers remain glossy. The other two volumes are still sound and tightly bound. Overstreet 2005 VG 4.0 value for group = $866. From the Random House Archives.
