Brown leather portfolio folder belonging to James Earl Carter, Sr., and subsequently used by Jimmy Carter while working in his family's agricultural business, 10.25 x 12.5, imprinted on the front: "To-day's Mail, J. E. Carter." A manuscript card is stapled inside, with "Custom Grinding" prices for hay, corn, cobs and shucks, mixing, and shelling corn. Includes a letter written to the Carters by an Atlanta schoolteacher in 1992, mentioning his acquisition of the folder and asking for its history. At the conclusion, Rosalynn Carter responds: "The folder belonged to Jimmy's father, and after he died & we came home from the Navy, Jimmy did use it in the office of our farm supply business."

Also includes: an itemized document from Carter's Insurance Agency; the Carter's personally-owned September 1971 issue of Atlanta Magazine, addressed to "Sen. Jimmy Carter, 1 Woodland Dr., Plains, GA"; and a color satin-finish 9.25 x 7.75 photograph of President Carter at his desk, signed in the lower border in black felt tip, matted and framed to an overall size of 16.25 x 13.25. In overall very good to fine condition, with expected heavy wear to Carter's portfolio. Accompanied by a campaign pin and a photo featuring a pre-printed signature. A rare and unique archive of personally-owned items from the private life of the 39th president.
