Exceptionally rare original Polydor Records 45 rpm record sleeve for the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s first single, ‘Hey Joe/Stone Free,’ 7.25 x 7, signed across Hendrix’s white printed name in green felt tip, “Jimi Hendrix.” Sleeve was signed in-person in Hamburg, Germany, on March 17, 1967, in front of his hotel, while Hendrix was performing for three days at the famous Star Club. Accompanied by a typed letter of provenance from the original recipient, stating, “This autograph...was signed by Jimi Hendrix on March 17, 1967, in front of Parkhotel, Hamburg, Lincolnstreet. We were a group of autograph hunters that had direct contact with almost all stars appearing in the Star Club...The musicians frequently made use of our knowledge of Hamburg and thus we also were on the road for three days with Jimi Hendrix and Chas Chandler. As a return favor, they signed autographs for us...I saw him perform 7 times during his stay.” The record is not included. In very good condition, with light ‘ring of wear’ to sleeve, light surface and corner creases, none affecting signature, and a few surface impressions to lower portion of sleeve.
