Vintage ballpoint signatures, “Jimi Hendrix” and “Love, Mitch, x,” on an off-white 5 x 7.5 sheet, dated in pencil to the lower right, “August 17, 1968,” and affixed by the top edge to the front cover of the Jimi Hendrix Experience album Are You Experienced. The third autograph is unidentified. In very good to fine condition, with a couple of tack holes and light stains; the reverse of the album bears an affixed strip of Velcro from a prior display. The record is included. The Jimi Hendrix Experience were joined by Soft Machine, The Amboy Dukes, and Vanilla Fudge for two raucous shows at Atlanta’s Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, August 17, 1968.

Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: “In August of 1968, I visited a friend who lived in Hapeville, GA right outside of Atlanta. As a special treat, her mother took us to the Hyatt Regency Hotel for lunch at the Polaris, their revolving restaurant…When we were leaving the hotel after lunch, we noticed a flurry of activity in the lobby. Someone important was checking in and people were getting autographs, so we said why not? We didn’t even know who they were! I remember Jimi Hendrix was dressed in purple and green; a long knee-length coat and a huge hat with green and purple feathers. Quite a sight!”
