Vintage ballpoint signature and inscription, "Love always to Nancy, Jimi Hendrix," on the reverse of an off-white 3.5 x 2 Dodge dealership thick mil stock business card. In very good to fine condition, with old tape stains to the side edges (not affecting the bold and clean signature). The autograph was obtained backstage after Hendrix did an interview with Nancy's then boyfriend, who worked at the University of Florida's college radio station. Accompanied by two ticket stubs for the concert at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa, Florida, on August 18, 1968, as well as handwritten letters of provenance offering details from both the recipient, Nancy, and her boyfriend, Dennis. The Nancy letter reads, in part: "He had press credentials which allowed us back stage & gained us entrance to the press conference prior to the concert. I was fortunate to sit 4–5 feet from Jimi!…It was very small & informal. As he was answering questions he was eating dinner, 'Hot dogs!' He was a very shy, humble man & spoke very softly. After the press conference was completed Dennis (my boyfriend) ask for an autograph. Jimi looked at him and said 'I don't do autographs.' Dennis turned to me & said 'I am sorry, he doesn't do autographs.' At that point Jimi ask who the autograph was for & Dennis replied 'for my girlfriend, Nancy.' Jimi's response was 'for her I will do an autograph.' He shook my hand & introduced himself while Dennis was looking for one of his father's business cards." Hendrix released his third album, Electric Ladyland, less than two months later, and it soon rocketed to the top of the charts to become known as one of the greatest albums in rock music history. Hendrix signatures are becoming harder to come by, especially those obtained from 1968 to 1970, with this being a nice full example of his signature. Also accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA.
