Ballpoint signature, “Jimi Hendrix,” on a light brown 3.5 x 2.5 card removed from a tissue packet. Nicely double-matted and framed with two attractive black and white photos of Hendrix to an overall size of 13.5 x 25. In very good condition, with overall creasing and light soiling, horizontal red marks, and tape remnants to left and right edges not touching the signature. Accompanied by a full letter of authenticity from REAL and a typed statement of authenticity from the original recipient, in part: “On June 19, 1969, I personally obtained an autograph from Jimi Hendrix during a short recess at his preliminary hearing for possession of heroin at Toronto Old City Hall.” Hendrix had been charged with heroin possession at the Toronto Pearson Airport, while on his way to a May 1969 show at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens, and the letter goes on to describe meeting Hendrix in the hallway during a break in his hearing and—without anything else at hand—purchasing a package of Kleenex to have him sign. Hendrix was eventually acquitted of the charges on December 8, 1969, as it was believed that a fan may have planted the drugs in his travel bag. Oversized.
