Vintage circa 1967 ballpoint signatures, “The best of luck to you—from Jimi Hendrix, Experience,” “Best regards, cheers, Noel Redding,” and “Best Wishes, Mitch,” on the reverse of an off-white 8 x 4 United Air Lines ticket envelope. The front of the envelope is filled out with flight information for a trip from Allentown to Los Angeles which took place on August 16, 1967. In fine condition, with light creases and toning. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the original recipient, in part: “I received the autographs directly from Jimi Hendrix, Mitchell and Redding on United Airline flight #81 from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles and stopping in Detroit…The Pittsburgh-Los Angeles flight stopped in Detroit where the group boarded after they performed two shows in Ann Arbor the night before…Mitchell and Redding slept most of the time but Jimi and I talked for about an hour during the flight.” The Jimi Hendrix Experience opened for The Mamas & the Papas at the Hollywood Bowl two days later. Hendrix had not performed in the United States prior to the summer of 1967, making this one of the group’s earliest American concerts. The original owner also appeared with this piece on an episode of Antiques Roadshow that aired in 2010, rounding out this offering’s superior provenance.
