Large vintage guest book from the Zur Goldenen Schnecke Restaurant in Stahlbad, Baden-Baden, Germany, 12 x 15.25, signed inside in blue felt tip, “Jimi Hendrix Experience! The food is out of sight! The best food in the world, a true art in eating, Jimi Hendrix, stay groovy,” who incorporates a heart into his surname, “Best wishes, and lovely food! Good luck, see you again, Cheers, Noel Redding,” and “My Very Best Witches! Bon Appetit, Mitch Mitchell, X,” with images of the musicians affixed next to their respective signatures. The faux leather-bound guest book, dated between April 1965 and January 1972, features intricate cover artwork done locally by the Kloster Lichtenthal, and contains numerous other signatures by German celebrities and sportsmen. Heavy wear to the covers and nearly complete spine separation, however the interior pages are generally all in fine condition, including the virtually pristine Hendrix page. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks. Consignor notes that the autographs were signed on January 18, 1969, when the band was on a one-day break from their tour of Western Germany. The Experience stopped in the spa town of Baden-Baden, intending to watch the German rock group Ghostmen at a casino in the Kurhaus complex. When the band was refused service on account of their dress, they instead opted for the Stahlbad Gasthaus. A simply phenomenal cast of Experience signatures that are among the very largest we've ever encountered.
