This scintillating first page framed this issue's story, ""The Coming of Captain Marvel!,"" which reprinted the first appearance of Captain Marvel, from " "<B>Marvel Superheroes</B></I> #12. Writer Steve Englehart titled this short sequence ""Watching and Waiting...,"" and he poked fun at artist Al Milgrom for missing his deadline, forcing Marvel to have to pull this story out of the files.
